Toto "Stranger In Town (Single & Video)"

"Stranger in Town" is a hit song by American rock band Toto from their 1984 album Isolation.

It was the first single released from that album, reaching the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1984. The song was the band's highest-ever charting Mainstream Rock track, eventually peaking at number 7. It was also a Top 40 single in Australia, where it remains the fourth highest charting single by Toto, behind only "Hold the Line", "Rosanna", and "Africa". The song was written by David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, and features Paich on lead vocals. Though Bobby Kimball is officially credited as a guest musician on the album, having been fired from Toto, "Stranger in Town" was recorded while he was still a member of the group.

The music video (filmed in black and white and directed by Steve Barron) and lyrics to the song are based on the film Whistle Down The Wind, about an escaped convict who runs into a group of children that mistake him for Jesus. Actor Brad Dourif plays the convict, and new member Fergie Frederiksen appears as a murder victim. Dourif and Toto would also work on the movie Dune that same year.

The video was nominated at the 1985 MTV Music Video Awards for Best Direction.[3]

The band appears briefly in the music video at the 2 minute 30 second mark of the song. It is the only time in the video that they appear.

The song was performed live during the 1985 Isolation tour as well as during the first leg of the subsequent Fahrenheit tour in October-November 1986 before being dropped for the second (European) leg of the tour. It then only resurfaced in the band's live set in 2015-16 (on the Toto XIV tour) and again in 2018 (40 Trips around the Sun tour).

Survivor "Eye Of The Tiger"

Eye of the Tiger is the third album by American rock band Survivor, released in 1982. It reached #2 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

It features the title track, which is the theme song of the film Rocky III. The single went to #1 in both the US and UK, while "American Heartbeat" reached #17 in the US. Both singles also made the charts in Germany.

Following the temporary disbandment of Survivor in 1989, Jimi Jamison recorded a cover of "Ever Since the World Began" for the film Lock Up.

AllMusic's brief retrospective review was dismissive of the album, declaring that "nothing here really scales the same height as the title track".

Toto "Isolation"

Isolation is the Gold-certified fifth studio album by Toto, released on October 18, 1984. This was one of two albums the band made with Fergie Frederiksen as the primary vocalist, the other being their soundtrack to Dune. Isolation failed to achieve the popularity of its predecessor, Toto IV, although it achieved gold record status and gave the band their highest charting mainstream rock single "Stranger in Town" (No. 7). Relatively few songs from this album were featured in live performances after 1985's Isolation World Tour.

Frederiksen, singing lead on seven of the ten tracks, replaced original Toto vocalist Bobby Kimball while the band was in the recording process for the album. Kimball had recorded vocals for some of the album's tracks prior to his termination; sources differ on how many - Kimball says most of the album, whereas David Paich and Steve Lukather say around 3 or 4 songs. Some of Kimball's background vocals can be heard on the record, such as in their single "Stranger in Town", and at least one song, "Lion", had a demo recording with Kimball on lead vocals before being re-recorded with Frederiksen.
